The caretaker job is becoming increasingly more difficult. The story describes how the boys (and eventually a young girl from Brazil) come to “discover their gifts” all the while not being allowed to tell family, schoolmates, friends, and acquaintances about their amazing abilities. Life is incredible, but difficult, as they travel the world.
Magical realism and spiritual overtones, mixed with real world situations make for some interesting encounters and many life lessons.
